A message from
Kelsey Houck,
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist 145679
Hello, I’m Kelsey, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a master’s degree in counseling psychology from California Lutheran University. I specialize in working with trauma, anxiety, depression, child/adolescent issues, neurodivergence, life transitions, grief and loss, relationships, shame, self-judgment, and self-esteem. I believe therapy should be a collaborative and empowering experience. My approach is client-centered, integrating family systems, attachment theory, and Gestalt therapy. I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where you can feel safe to explore your thoughts and feelings.
In therapy with me, we’ll embark on a collaborative journey. We might explore past traumas or current challenges, but always with a focus on healing and growth. Think of me as your co-pilot, helping navigate the sometimes-bumpy road of life. I promise to bring empathy, warmth, and a touch of humor to our sessions, because healing doesn’t always have to be so serious!
Whether you’re dealing with the stresses of daily life, navigating a significant life transition, or working through deeper emotional wounds, I’m here to support you. Together, we’ll find the best path forward, tailored just for you. In therapy, you can expect a compassionate and non-judgmental space where you are encouraged to express yourself freely. My goal is to help you gain insights, develop coping strategies, and foster personal growth. I look forward to meeting you and working together towards a brighter, more balanced future.
Educational Background
I hold a Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy from California Lutheran University (CLU). In the same program, I specialized in trauma assessment and treatment. Previously, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications with a Minor in Psychology at CLU as well.
Experience
During grad school, I trained extensively, gaining valuable experience working in the California Lutheran University Community Counseling Center where I got to experience working with children, teens, and adults across a diverse range of diagnoses, demographics, identities, and cultural backgrounds. I also had the opportunity to work with the Conejo Valley School District, which enriched my understanding and skills in supporting diverse populations and students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP). My practice focuses on providing individualized care tailored to each client’s unique needs and circumstances.
